Renato Espeschit

I make your company more profitable.

A cost that disappears, a process that stops getting stuck, revenue you weren’t capturing: you hire me for the result. The software that gets you there I build myself, fast, with AI.

Anyone can build software today. What I deliver is the problem solved and the opportunity found: outcome as a service, instead of software as a service.

The first step is free. Two one-hour conversations on different days. The solution I bring to the second one is yours to keep, whether or not you hire me.

I co-founded Segfy. Within 3 years we were running 5 million insurance quotes a month. Read the case

Does this happen at your company?

Most of the money a company can save or earn is hiding in routine work. These are the problems I hear most, and what changes once each one is solved.

  1. “We type the same data into three different systems.”

Data typed once, and the retyping errors gone

An integration makes your systems talk to each other, so the hours spent retyping go back to the work that matters.

  2. “The real process lives in a spreadsheet only one person understands.”

The process keeps running when that person is on vacation

A small app with the rules built in: clear steps, permissions and history, instead of knowledge locked in one head.

  3. “Every week someone loses an afternoon putting the same report together.”

The afternoon back, and decisions made on current numbers

A dashboard fed straight from your systems puts the numbers in one place, always up to date, without anyone copying them by hand.

  4. “There’s money in this idea, but nobody has time to test it.”

You learn whether the idea makes money before spending the budget

Real users try a clickable prototype first. The product gets built only if the idea holds up; if it doesn’t, you found out cheaply.

  5. “Off-the-shelf software makes us work its way, not ours.”

Your team works its own way again, not the software’s

Only the screens and steps you use, in your own vocabulary, connected to the tools the company already has.

How it works

The first step toward the result is two free conversations: I find where the gain is and write down how to get it. After the second one, you decide whether to go ahead. You work directly with me the whole way.

  1. First conversation free, 1 hour

You tell me what’s going on. I ask about the process that weighs most: who does what, in which systems and spreadsheets, and where the hours go.

  2. Second conversation free, 1 hour

On another day, I bring the solution, written on a sheet like this one. It’s yours to keep, whether or not we work together.

What you take from the second conversation

The solutionFor one process, mapped with your team

How it works today
Who does what, in what order, in which systems and spreadsheets.
Where it leaks
Hours, rework and errors, and where each one comes from.
What to build first
The one change that should pay back soonest.
What it should return
The estimate, in hours, errors, cost or revenue.
How we’ll measure it
Today’s numbers, written down to compare with later.

If you go ahead, the work is judged by the numbers on that sheet

  • Prototype

A clickable version your team tries early, while changes are still cheap.

  • Build

The real software, in small releases, so the result starts to show before the project ends.

  • Measure

Before and after, on the numbers written down in the second conversation. That’s how we both know it worked.

As an ongoing partner, I keep the software evolving as the business changes. As a single project, the code and documentation belong to your company at the end.

Segfy, 2016–2020. I was CPO and co-founder.

Sectors: insurtechSaaS

The software we built for insurance brokers grew revenue 800%. Then Porto Seguro acquired the company.

The problem

To offer a client the best price, an insurance broker had to type the same details into each insurer’s system, one at a time, and then compare the answers by hand. Time spent typing was time not spent selling.

What we built

Software that runs the broker’s routine in one place: quotes, proposals, policies, commissions, installments, claims and reports. At its core, robots fill in the quote on dozens of insurers at once and bring the prices back side by side. On top of that data we created two more products, Segfy Seguros and Segfy Analytics.

I turned the company’s strategy into product, led the discovery and delivery teams, and took part in buying three other companies: Cotak, Villa IT and Leosoft.

The result

5M+
quotes a month
800%
revenue growth
50+
people on the team

Porto Seguro, Brazil’s largest insurer, acquired Segfy.

Before product leadership, I ran Adok, a custom software company, as CEO and CPO from 2004 to 2013, building systems for universities and the Minas Gerais state government. I also co-founded seven startups whose business model didn’t hold up. They taught me to test before building.

Who you’ll be working with

I studied Computer Science and wrote code for a living before spending two decades on the business side of software, founding companies and leading product at the ones listed above.

I can talk margins with the CEO in the morning and review a data model in the afternoon. With AI, building the software has become the fast part; the result comes from understanding the business first. So I start from what your company needs to gain, and only then decide what to build.

Today I build Mirabilis, a clinical app for the occupational therapists at Instituto ISC. It is the same work I offer you: understand how a team really works, find what holds it back, fix it and watch the numbers.

Today. Product and development

Mirabilis, a clinical app

1,500+ occupational therapists across Brazil use it

The problem

Occupational therapists who treat children with sensory integration needs juggle a schedule in one place, intake forms in another and documents in folders. Session notes pile up for the end of the day.

What I did

I build Mirabilis for Instituto ISC. It follows the clinical reasoning taught at the institute, from assessment to goals, intervention and follow-up, with session notes by voice, reports and documents in one click, and an assistant that suggests while the therapist decides.

The result

Used by more than 1,500 occupational therapists across Brazil.

Mirabilis day view: the therapist’s schedule, pending tasks and a suggestion from the assistant. A child’s clinical record in Mirabilis, with a chart of progress on three goals. The assistant’s suggestions in Mirabilis, each with Decline, Edit and Accept buttons.

Screens from mirabilis.pro, with example data.

853 municipalities stopped mailing paper forms to the state

853 municipalities in Minas Gerais reporting online every month

The problem

Every month, the Minas Gerais Department of Social Development (SEDESE) needed to know how social assistance programs were doing in each municipality. The answers came on paper forms, by mail.

What we built

With the Political Science department at UFMG, we designed an online questionnaire that each municipality’s social assistance manager fills in monthly, and a system that stores the answers and turns them into indicators. The state can create as many questionnaires and indicators as it needs and adjust each question easily.

The result

All 853 municipalities reporting every month. We designed the questionnaire with the people who would fill it in, before writing the system, and the project became a national reference case.

853 small squares, one for each municipality in Minas Gerais.
853 squares, one per municipality. All of them now reported every month.

2022–2023. Head of Product

Tracbel, remote machine monitoring

7,000+ heavy machines monitored

The problem

When a heavy machine stops unexpectedly in the field, the whole operation stops with it.

What I did

I led the development of the software that monitors the machines remotely, with real-time data and early diagnostics, so maintenance happens before the breakdown.

The result

More than 7,000 machines monitored, with predictive maintenance to reduce downtime and extend equipment life.

2021–2022. Senior Product Manager

Netdata Cloud, infrastructure monitoring

1.2M+ servers and devices sending data to it

The problem

Netdata, a free and open source monitoring tool, already collected thousands of metrics from servers, containers and applications. Netdata Cloud had to make all of it easy to use, and to pay for.

What I did

With the CEO, the COO and cross-functional teams, I worked on the usability of Netdata Cloud. I set up a North Star metric and OKRs, ran competitive analysis, presented monetization strategies and used jobs-to-be-done research to find what users needed most.

The result

More than 1.2 million servers and devices connected and 68,000+ stars on GitHub.

Netdata Cloud dashboard for containers and virtual machines, with gauges and charts. Netdata system overview, with CPU and load charts.

2020–2021. Chief Product Officer

ClinicaRX, health services in pharmacies

1,500+ pharmacies and clinics in 400 municipalities on the platform in 2020

The problem

In the pandemic, Brazilian pharmacies became a place to get tested for COVID-19, alongside vaccines, other rapid tests and check-ups. Each of those services needs a patient record, a price and a report. ClinicaRX is the software a pharmacy uses to run them: the appointment, the health history, checkout and the report, in one place.

What I did

As CPO, I worked with the CEO to revise the company’s strategy, set a North Star metric and cascade it to every team through OKRs. I organized product into small squads, each led by a product manager, a tech lead and a product designer, and moved the business model to SaaS, charging for the value customers perceived instead of for a list of features. I also revamped the software development process around agile practices and built a culture of constant feedback, with bi-weekly checkpoints with all teams and regular 1:1s and all-hands meetings.

The result

A product-led growth strategy that improved customer engagement and retention, and an online company playbook that made the main processes open to everyone and made onboarding easier.

Digital products for home buyers

R$770M+ (Brazilian reais) generated for Latin America’s largest construction company

The problem

Latin America’s largest construction company wanted to change how people buy a home and live in it.

What I did

I worked on the conception, development and management of the digital products in that transformation: discovery and delivery, remote teams, OKRs, metrics, prototyping and testing with users.

The result

One result of the project I was part of: more than R$770 million generated for the company.

2022–2024. Head of Product

Open innovation platform

30,000+ ideas, projects, startups and challenges published in year one

The problem

Companies wanted one place to collect ideas, run innovation challenges and follow projects and startups.

What I did

I led the development of the platform and its go-to-market: the move to SaaS, product-led growth and the launch of AI-powered features.

The result

More than 30,000 ideas, projects, startups and challenges published in the first year.

2013–2017. Founder

Montink, print-on-demand marketplace

150,000+ t-shirts designed by 10,000+ customers

The problem

Anyone who wanted to sell their own t-shirts had to deal with production, stock and shipping.

What I did

I created the company, the product and the business model. It took five pivots: sales on social networks to validate the idea, then an online store for football fans, and finally a white-label platform used by companies and influencers.

The result

150,000+ t-shirts designed by more than 10,000 customers in the first year, with a team of three.

2004–2016. COO and co-founder

BNW, e-commerce platform

2,000+ online stores published

The problem

Small and mid-sized businesses wanted to sell online without building a store from scratch.

What I did

I ran operations across the company: the store-builder platform, digital marketing, the sales process, customer success, and administration and finance.

The result

More than 2,000 online stores, which sold over R$80 million.
